Kim Cattrall, who recently appeared in an ad politely asking tourists to visit British Columbia, Canada, says that Sex and the City has single-handily changed the movie industry’s view of women.
Cattrall just wrapped up production on Sex and the City 2 and called the franchise “refreshing.”
“Re-examining what happens to women in their 30s, 40s and 50s is, in some ways, incredibly new territory,” says Cattrall. “I was driving to work and there was a big billboard with Denzel Washington looking like another film about the end of the world.
“Sex and the City really is something quite new and fresh compared to that. There’s so much more to tell. It’s also something that women crave.”
But being a part of a popular series, both on TV and in film, can take a toll on one’s personal life.
“The most difficult thing about my job is that I do a lot of 19-hour days. It’s really difficult to have a life, never-mind a relationship. But I don’t have any regrets, really. I’m quite content. I’m very stubborn and persistent. I just keep working,” said the 53-year-old.
But Kim, what’s your fantasy? Be a little nasty for us.
“I feel like I’m living my fantasy in a way. I’m a very independent woman,” said the cougar. “I don’t have to rely on anyone. I enjoy people. I’m very close to my family. I have pretty good values. I don’t really want for much. It’s all good.”
KIM CATTRALL can’t wait until the second SEX AND THE CITY movie hits the big screen – because she’s tired of keeping the script a secret.
Film bosses have warned the feisty blonde and the rest of the cast, including Sarah Jessica Parker, not to reveal the highly-anticipated plot ahead of the film’s May release.
Cattrall made headlines worldwide last year when she was snapped holding a copy of her lines, accidentally revealing part of the script.
And the actress is struggling to cope with the pressure.
She says, It's crazy. You really have to be careful because I've signed my life away to say I won't tell. It gets to the point where you're terrified to carry your script around just in case someone catches a glimpse of it.
I'll be glad when the movie is out and we can all relax.
Kim Cattrall’s super-sexed adventures in “Sex and the City” as Samantha Jones have kept us captivated as she plowed through hunky man after hunky man. With Jason Lewis (Smith Jerrod) out of the picture, it’s only fitting that she would have another boy toy lined up to play with. I’m pleased to introduce Samantha’s new love interest: Noah Mills.
Mills, 26, who has appeared as the face of Michael Kors, Dolce & Gabbana, and Tom Ford, will play Nicky, the brother of Charlotte York – Gosenblatt’s wedding planner / gay husband Anthony Marantino (Mario Cantone).
“He’s a real New Yorker, a construction worker, blue-collar guy,” Noah Mills describes of his character. “My first film experience is this role, so that was a little intimidating; they’ve worked together for so long.”
Noah has at least two scenes in the movie – a “speaking scene” and “a potentially more awkward scene,” as Mills put it – the latter, a love scene with Kim Cattrall’s Samantha.
He said that Kim Cattrall is very different from her character, Samantha Jones, and that she would be on set in the middle of the night to film his (reportedly steamy) close-ups when she could have used a stand-in. “She demanded to stay; she’s really intelligent and really there to work,” he said.
The addition of Mills to the cast throws a monkey wrench into the love triangle between longtime lovers Samantha and Smith.
Word on the street was that New Line Cinema was pushing through production of SATC II and III at the same time, so that in the third film the stars, who are now in their forties, could look “as young as possible.”
The story went that the company was filming SATC parts II and III back to back, to ensure Sarah Jessica Parker and her three pals would not have lost their youthful charms by the time the third film came out.
But New Line Cinema has denied the rumors. “This is not true” a representative for the studio stated.
But tbh, the rumors made sense so if theres a smoke, there must be a fire somewhere also i think. We will just have to see after SATC2 :)
Sex and the City 2’s Sarah Jessica Parker shared her 5 most favorite beauty products with InStyle magazine. The actress has a new fragrance coming out, SJP NYC Eau de Toilette, which she describes as youthful and whimsical and something her S&TC character Carrie might wear.
SJP is known to be a low maintenance kind of girl and her favorite beauty products range from the $6 drugstore buy to her favorite Shiseido cleanser.
“I apply it to my lips every night before bed. It has the most amazing smell.”
C.O. Bigelow Rose Salve, $6
“I always think things get cleaner if the formula gets foamy. I’m sure that’s not scientifically true, but I love the bubbles!”
Shiseido Pureness Cleansing Foam
“This is not cheap stuff, but it really does terrific things for my hair.”
Kerstase Masque Oleo-Relax
“It gives my hair that squeaky clean feeling that I’ve loved ever since I was a child.”
Bumble and Bumble Sunday Shampoo
“This targets all the things that are important to treat someone my age, like dryness and wrinkles.”
PENELOPE Cruz was persuaded to take part in the upcoming Sex and the City movie sequel because she’s a huge fan of its star, Sarah Jessica Parker.
The Oscar-winning actress is refusing to spill any on-set secrets but she has said she has a specific character in the sexy sequel and has to play opposite SJP.
“It’s a little cameo that I did,” said Cruz. “I shot a half a day, and I did a cameo because I’m a very big fan of the show and Sarah Jessica Parker — she is such an amazing actress. But they don’t really want me to say anything about the scene or the story.
“It was written somewhere that I was playing myself but that is not true. I play someone else but I can’t say any more about it. I was only shooting for three hours.
“It was a little collaboration that I did because I am a huge, huge fan of the TV show and the movie. And Sarah Jessica Parker is such a nice woman, she is like an angel.”
Despite reports and plenty of wishing on the part of the fans, Carrie Bradshaw's second "Big"-gest love, Aidan Shaw, won't be making an appearance in "Sex and The City 2."
On Saturday afternoon, following his Television Critics Association panel to promote Season 2 of his Showtime series with Toni Collette, "The United States of Tara," John said he won't be in the movie.
In December, Sarah Jessica Parker told MTV News she could not "confirm nor deny" that John was coming back for a cameo as Aiden, after he was reportedly spotted in Morocco at the same time "Sex and The City 2" was being filmed there.
But on Saturday, John told AccessHollywood.com he wasn't even in the North African country as past reports suggested.
"I wasn't in Morocco," John told Access.
In fact, John said the shots of the star people have referred to are actually from some time ago.
"I was in Istanbul about six years ago and somebody put a picture up and said I was Morocco," he said.
When asked about Sarah Jessica's recent non-denial and non-confirmation, John smiled and said his former co-star was doing the right thing for her film.
"Well, if I were a producer, I would do the same thing," he laughed.
Back in August, we spotted Sarah Jessica Parker re-emerge as Carrie Bradshaw on the Upper East Side of New York City, where the actress was filming the sequel to Sex and the City: The Movie. It was there that we got our first glimpse of the film’s highly anticipated fashion, after seeing this first image, I had to tip my hat to the show and film’s costume designer. Ms. Patricia Field, you did not disappoint.
Along with accessories that included Christian Louboutin shoes, a Chanel clutch and a Solange Azagury-Partridge necklace, Parker wore a dress by newly launched Halston Heritage that’s now available at a Neiman Marcus near you (neimanmarcus.com; $325).
So now the question is, how many Carrie lookalikes will we see at midnight screenings when the film opens in May as scheduled?
Kim Cattrall admits she is "totally insecure" meeting men
January, 3. 2010.
Kim Cattrall, the ‘Sex and the City’ celeb who plays sexy Samantha, admits her role is the opposite of who she is as a person. The actress talked about this topic today (January 3) to the Daily Mail in the UK, including tidbits about the upcoming Sex in the City 2 as well.
To be sure, it you think the actress and the character on Sex and the City are the same, think again. They are actually quite opposite and the actress discusses this in detail with the Daily Mail.
“I never thought that was what the character represented. I’m sure there are women who do that, but I never considered Samantha to be that. And certainly not myself; I mean, I could not go into a bar and pick up a man – that is so foreign to me it’s not even in my hemisphere. I am totally insecure. That is predatory behaviour, and I don’t consider myself a predator. In fact, I feel sometimes that I am the pursued,’ she tells the newspaper.
Cattrall has been in three marriages and only recently broke up from her most current relationship of five years. Her time on the movie set as well as studying for an upcoming West End Production of Noel Coward's Private Lives has left little time for her to be out looking for a suitable boyfriend. But, that might change soon since Kim is making more time in her busy schedule to build a relationship.
“I’m starting to date; it feels all right. It’s very hard to be private about that. Whenever you step out for a drink or dinner, whomever you’re with becomes your latest beau. Which is a bit of a laugh for my gay friends," says Kim Cattrall.
SJP on switching between Hollywood glamour and being a mum to twins
January, 1. 2010.
With the sequel to the Sex And The City movie currently shooting and a new film - Did You Hear About The Morgans? - out today, Sarah Jessica Parker enters the New Year as busy as ever.
And with two little twin daughters added to her family last June, her life is doubly hectic. Sarah and husband Matthew Broderick used a surrogate mother to have another child, and ended up with twin girls Marion and Tabitha as sisters for son James, seven.
You're still shooting the Sex And The City sequel?
Oh yeah. We did a 21-hour day just yesterday. We're working hard to live up to any expectations. We're doing the best that we can. It's a lot of work but we love it.
How is it to jump from the haute couture of SATC to being a mum in jeans and T-shirts?
It's a thrill - are you kidding me? My most important role is being a mother and dressing in practical ways that get you through a day. That's the thing I'm most proud of.
Well, since we are partners with On Location Tours I found a bloger who shared her experience from the Tour. If you interested in the SATC Tour check the link on the right and use Discount Code 8)
Never in my life did I think I would go on an a New York City tour. When I say never, I mean never-in-a-million-years. I don't like being a Tourist nor do I like Tourist, especially New York City Tourists--they're like pack rats who congregate in Times Square. I'm really just not a fan of crowds.
Well anyway, when someone from On Location Tours shot me an email offering me a Sex and The City or Gossip Girl tour for free (that was for you FTC), I jumped on the idea. For those who don't know, I'm a huge SATC fan. I've watched the first movie over 20 times and can recite lines like it's no man's business. So secretly, I've always wanted to go on one of these tours but could not let the inner New Yorker in me allow myself to do so. Needless to say, I'm so glad I went on the tour!!
The mini trip into Carrie Bradshaw's land allowed me to see the real beauty of the concrete jungle I've come to know and love. From Uptown to Downtown, my buddy Noel of Miss Couturable and I visited most of the spots the TV show and movie were shot.
Sex and The City portrays NYC like this fantasy land and well, it sort of is. Our spunky tour guide showed us so many great places to dine, have fun and most importantly, shop! One of the last stops on the tour was to the infamous Magnolia's Bakery on Bleecker Street. The tour guide fed us some cupcakes and then we were able to roam around Bleecker for 20 minutes. During these 20 minutes, Noel and I, stumbled into Cynthia Rowley's store. As we walked in, I instantly saw a familiar face. It was Cynthia Rowley HERSELF! I nudged Noel and whispered as quietly as I could, "THAT'S CYNTHIA ROWLEY!!!" I'm surprised we were the only people in the store that realized it was her. I then snapped this picture of her and Noel and we continued to browse the lovely store.
All in all, I'm surprised at how much fun I had on this tour. I guess being a NYC Tourist isn't that bad...
Sarah Jessica Parker has revealed she has “enormous regrets” about the demands of appearing in the movie sequel to Sex and the City.
The actress said her filming schedule had prevented her from spending time with her new twins, Tabitha and Marion, who were born through a surrogate.
“It's been amazing but complicated because of my current work schedule, which I have enormous regrets about,” she said.
Parker, who has been filming Sex and the City 2 in New York and Morocco, admitted she struggled to balance her work and home life.
She said: “The great challenge for me is to be all things to all people; I want to be a great mother, and I want to feel good when I'm at work. But it is hard.”
Speaking to US Glamour magazine, the 44-year-old actress also revealed that she and husband Matthew Broderick were not pushover parents.
She said the couple, who also have a son, James, did not want their children to feel like they have “a sense of entitlement”.
Parker added: "I want them to work hard and be challenged.
"That's hard to do when you have everything you need and want, so I am working on those values all the time."
Sturman Jewelry on the Set of the Sex and the City 2 Movie
November, 30. 2009.
M. Sturman Jewelry may not yet be a household name, however should the pieces that were sent to the set of the newest Sex in the City movie make final cut that should change. Nothing seems to stamp an item as a "must have" faster then when it is seen adorning Carrie or one of her closest friends on their glamorous romp through life . The fictitious foursome have become a hallmark of what constitutes high end fashion.
It was exciting to learn that not all the pieces selected for the movie, and possibly destined for stardom themselves, are already part of the fashion elite's wardrobe. This New York City based jewelry designer uses a collection of unique pearls, stones, beads and vintage pieces, including Swarovski cabochons and blown glass to create the unusual items in her collection. A stand out piece features Swarovski stones ordered by Christian Dior prior to World War II. Inspired by the colors, shapes and textures of the raw materials the designer painstaking crochets or weaves each piece in her New York City Studio.
The designer Peggy Sturman has a background in art history and floral design which is easily seen in her work. Will she be the next "it" girl of the fashion industry? Only time will tell, but Carrie and the girls could certainly give her a leg up. All the pieces featured above and in the gallery are currently on the set of the new movie.
Kim Cattrall, who played the highly sexual Samantha Jones in the hit television series “Sex and the City”, says that the trend of older women dating younger men is over. Kim believes that women should expand on what has been started by the “cougar” revolution and enjoy the fruits of the changes.
Kim said in a recent interview, “Cougar is passe. I think we’re on to something else now. It’s not about kitten or cougar – we’re moving beyond those stereotypes. It’s about so much more than just being a woman on the prowl – there’s a lot more going on than that. We’ve done the work, let’s enjoy the party. Let’s not limit ourselves to labels.
‘Cougar’ makes it all feel one-dimensional. It’s not.” Kim has recently had a break up with her younger partner, chef Alan Wyse, and thinks women should not limit themselves in relationships, but feel free to explore all possibilities.
Sex and the City prequels coming to bookstores in 2010
November, 18. 2009.
Did you ever wonder how Carrie Bradshaw got to be so fabulous? Well now you can find out who Carrie was before the Manolos, in Candace Bushnell's latest books, The Carrie Diaries, set to be released April 27, 2010, just one month before the new SATC movie hits theaters.
The first in a two book series, The Carrie Diaries will chronicle Carrie Bradshaw's teen years, following her as she develops her fashion sense, creating trends only Carrie could make popular. The book will also go along for the ride of Carrie's first love, which is sure to explain how Ms. Bradshaw got her start in writing about her crazy relationships.
The most exciting thing will be who are Carrie's friends? Teenage Carrie means pre-Miranda, Samantha, and Charlotte, so will the new friends be mini-clones of the fab four? You'll just have to wait and see, as details on this book are slow coming. But for those who have a hard time waiting, here is the cover art for the new book.
The CW channel should be all over this book, as a television series is a must. An '80's flashback to the making of Carrie Bradshaw would no doubt be a huge hit.
Willie: So I bet you’re wondering why I called you all here. Rosy: Because you’re fabulous!
Willie:Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Panel: What was it about White Collar or about the script that drew you back to TV? Willie: I found the script to be very interesting and very timely. Certainly, we all have been reading about a lot of people figuring out ways to scam and get money for doing nothing, other than figuring out a way to get over on hard working people. So I thought that was a really interesting time for a show like this.
Panel: What did you think of the character when you first initially read about it on paper? Did you think you’d like this kind of person?
Willie: Yeah, I did because it’s very different from anything else I’ve ever played. Although—how do I make this not sound the way it’s going to sound? I guess because it’s me, he’s somehow becoming more stylish. All of a sudden, he’s looking—wearing pretty cool clothes. And I don’t know how that happens to me, but I am blessed with always wearing cool clothes.
But I was really drawn to kind of an under-the-radar kind of guy rather than an out-there kind of guy. And it also gives a lot of opportunities to play with, you know, me pretending to be other people and working scams behind the scenes rather than in front of the scenes. So that’s pretty cool. And I just thought—I’m also a big fan of all those shows that I grew up on, and this is—it’s Huggy Bear, it’s Angel from Rockford Files. It’s that subversive guy in the background, the brains behind the brain. And that’s very—that was interesting to me.
Actor Gilles Marini has said there just wasn't a place for his character Dante in the Sex and the City movie sequel.
Marini, 33, played Samantha's love interest Dante in the movie, but he has not been cast to return in the movie's sequel, which is currently shooting.
Asked about not being recast, he said: "Well it's very simple, the character of Dante was very important in the first movie. And he made Samantha realise she was like him five years before."
He added: "The script took a different turn and they don't want Dante in New York, I mean he would freeze to death in New York taking a shower outside."
Marini added: "The script took a different approach and there's no place for Dante in that script, but let me tell you from what I've heard from producers and directors… it looks like it's gonna be a brilliant movie."
Asked if he's upset about not returning, he said: "No, not at all. How could I? Sex and the City put me on the map, internationally speaking."
Marini then said that he would have been upset if his character was in the second movie but another actor was picked for the part.
Sex and the City superstar Sarah Jessica Parker is Elle’s cover girl for their December issue, where the normally private actress opens up about everything from rumors of diva behavior on the SATC movie set to why she loves the smell of her twin babies’ diapers.
Talking about her and husband Matthew Broderick’s decision to use a surrogate mother to carry their twins, SJP admits, “I knew there would be lots of opinions about, ‘Well, why didn’t you adopt? Why didn’t you do this? Why didn’t you do that?’ and the truth of the matter is, it wasn’t one or the other for us. We had explored, and continue to explore all options, and this one just happened first. This isn’t the period at the end of the sentence.”
And even though she didn’t spend nine months pregnant this time, Sarah Jessica is still a very hands-on mom. “I love the smell of diapers; I even like when they’re wet and you smell them all warm liked a baked good. I love the smell of Balmex. Love it.”
So what about those rumors that she and co-star Kim Cattrall don’t get along? “I don’t think anybody wants to believe that I love Kim,” she reveals. “I adore her. I wouldn’t have done the movie without her. Didn’t and wouldn’t.”
Singer Miley Cyrus says her cameo in the Sex And The City movie sequel was the 'best job I've ever done'.
The 16-year-old star said she had so much fun when she shot a scene with actress Kim Cattrall, 53.
She said: "That was really cool. I was in New York that day and I didn't end up shooting until like 11pm at night. So it was awesome. I got like a free trip to New York.
"I hung out in New York, like, all day and I got to go to the set. I literally shot for like an hour and a half and it was done. And it was like the best job I've ever done.
"It was a total dream come true, it was so cool. Working with Kim [Cattrall] was really cool and Sarah Jessica Parker was like the nicest person in the world."
Miley is soon turning 17 and she told Ryan Seacrest on his KIIS FM show what she would like to do to celebrate her birthday. She said: "I want to do a Dolly Parton-themed party. I want everyone, all my friends, I want to like rent out a cool place and play all Dolly Parton music and have everyone dress up as their favourite Dolly moment."
KIM CATTRALL is planning to hang up her heels after she wraps the forthcoming sequel - she has signed up for another stint on the London stage.
The 53-year-old actress is currently shooting the second movie based on the hit TV series, but when filming finishes she will swap New York for the U.K. capital in a new production of Noel Coward's comedy, Private Lives.
Cattrall will star as Amanda opposite British actor Matthew MACfadyen, playing a former couple who rekindle their romance after both having re-married.
The star first appeared in London's West End in 2005 in Whose Life Is It Anyway? She returned a year later (06) for a production of David Mamet's The Cryptogram.
Uh, what exactly did Kristin mean by that hint? We're not quite sure either because all she would say was that "everything" is bigger (except the wardrobe: see #4 for more on that). So do with that what you will, "Sex" fiends.
2. The runtime on the sequel will not be as epic (read: long) as the first one
"The last movie was also 'big' in terms of length, it was kind of like a saga in 'Sex and the City,' Josh noted, to which Kristin immediately chimed in with: "Oh no. This one is not going to be that long. It's like condensed soup." So every minute will be meaty, then, right? "Yes! And different, and adventure and rich, and like, there's music involved." Music, eh? We hope that doesn't mean the girls are going to break out into song and dance while walking along 5th avenue. That would just be so, so wrong.
3. For some unknown reason, the cast has been working well into the night
"We were shooting last week - and pretty much for the two weeks before that - nights. All night," she recalled. "Now, we were not doing a night exterior, but that's how many hours we needed to get these certain things done that when it comes out, you're going to know what I'm talking about. I can't tell you right now: except to say that they are HUGE scenes with like hundreds of people in them!" There she goes being mysterious again!
4. Costume designer Pat Field worked hard ... but not as hard as she did the first time around
Sarah Jessica Parker may have had 81 costume changes alone in the first film, but the rotating door on her closet (and on the rest of the girls') has since slowed down. "There were more costume changes in the first one, than there are in the second one," Kristin dished.
Liza Minnelli makes the Sex and the City 2 cast go to tears
October, 23. 2009.
Liza Minnelli brought the cast of the new 'Sex and the City' movie to tears when she performed for them.
The iconic singer - who has a cameo appearance as herself in the upcoming film - played a song for the cast when shooting wrapped on her scene, before making an emotional speech.
According to gossip blogger Perez Hilton, actor Nicholas Rodriguez said: "Liza's scene is ginormous with a huge budget and pretty much everybody is in it, including Sarah Jessica Parker, Chris Noth, Kristin Davis, Kim Cattrall and Cynthia Nixon.
"After the shoot, Liza said, 'I would like to have everyone's attention,' and they pulled out a stool for her at the piano and gave her a mic and she sang a favourite of her mother, Judy Garland.
"Then she said, 'Thank you for letting me play with you guys." It was so heartfelt and genuine. I got choked up and several people were sobbing like a baby, but I'm not going to name names!"
Liza is a guest at the film's "shock wedding", rumoured to be that of the franchise's gay characters Stanford Blatch and Anthony Marentino.
Little by little, the secrets of the sequel to the Sex and the City movie are leaking out, and style guru Patricia Field is filling PEOPLE in.
"It's Star Wars for women all over the world," Field joked at the 2009 Angel Ball for cancer research on Tuesday in New York City.
So what was the real story behind those '80s outfits that Sarah Jessica Parker and her three pals were dressed in – and widely seen in photos from a shoot on the streets of the Big Apple?
"It was in the beginning of the movie," Field explained. "Carrie was waiting to meet her girlfriends and she was thinking about when she first moved to New York in the '80s and how she met Samantha and Charlotte. They're all, in real time, meeting to go shopping. And in her flashback time, she is thinking of when she first met each one of them."
What's with the guest appearances by Cruz, Minnelli and Cyrus? Cyrus recently filmed a scene with Kim Cattrall, where the two ostensibly showed up to a movie premiere in matching outfits.
"That's in the story line, but I'm not going to tell that one," Field teases. "But, it's fun. Miley's a very good character. She's a really nice girl. She's happy and with it! She's a very cool girl."
What about the films' increasingly exotic locales? After all, in the first movie, Carrie and friends fled Gotham for Mexico after Mr. Big stood her up at the altar. The new movie doesn't disappoint, Field promises, saying they'll be visiting Morocco.
"[We're shooting] there for about six weeks," she said. "You'll probably see belly dancers and Bedouins!"
But Field zips her lip when it comes to the biggest question of all: Will Carrie be expecting a baby?
"I don't know," she says. "You're going to have to see for yourself because then what's the fun?"
Not only has she been hard at work filming the sequel to her Sex and the City movie, but Sarah Jessica Parker has also been hard at work on launching a new fragrace very much inspired by the actress' small and big screen persona, Carrie Bradshaw.
SJP, who has launched a signature fragrance in the past, confessed that her most recent scent was somewhat unexpected, "It's unusual for me because this fragrance is surprisingly floral, which I keep thinking I am not sophisticated or mature enough for."
The perfume, SJP NYC, carries a note of strawberry and, as Parker explains, "It amazes me that this essence of strawberry mixes so beautifully with the more sophisticated floral notes and the musks that I love and will always have as part of my fragrances. In a million years I would never think, 'Let's work around strawberry.'"
Carrie Bradshaw & Co. are getting an extra dose of fabulous in the upcoming Sex and the City flick.
I just got word that Tim Gunn is going to appear in the sequel. A rep for Gunn confirms the cameo, which he's shooting in New York City right now!
No word yet on what the Project Runway guru will be doing in the film, but I'm told he's playing himself.
This wouldn't be the first time Gunn has been in business with Sarah Jessica Parker.
SJP appeared as a guest judge on Project Runway back in 2007 when contestants (including Christian Siriano) were given a $15 budget to create an item for her cost-conscious clothing line Bitten.
Now, back to SATC 2. Gunn isn't the only fun cameo we'll be seeing in the flick. Miley Cyrus is said to be playing herself in a scene in which she and Samantha Jones hit the same red carpet in the same dress.
Liza Minnelli reportedly is the surprise performer belting out Beyoncé's "Single Ladies" at a wedding. And Penélope Cruz was spotted just the other day shooting a scene with Parker and Chris Noth, aka Mr. Big.
In other SATC news, spies in NYC tell me they just shot at the über-fabulous Empire Hotel. The scene was a movie premiere party celebrating a flick starring Samantha's on-again, off-again hunkster Smith (Jason Lewis).
Penelope Cruz gets cameo in Sex and the City 2 Movie
October, 13. 2009.
Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall and the rest of the Sex and the City ladies are getting some A-list company in their upcoming sequel to last year's SATC movie.
OK! Magazine reports that Penelope Cruz has just filmed a cameo for the flick, joining already confirmed guest appearances by Hannah Montana star Miley Cyrus and Liza Minnelli. (Minnelli will be belting out a rendition of Beyonce's "Single Ladies" during the wedding between Stanford and Anthony—for which Parker's Carrie Bradshaw will serve as best man.)
Sounds like the movie, which has a May 28, 2010, release date, is going to be a star-studded affair.
British actress Alice Eve has joined the cast of Sex and the City 2, Variety reports. Eve will play the role of Charlotte’s young nanny, who stirs up conflict between the friends, in the sequel, which is currently shooting in New York.
Eve appeared in the film Crossing Over and will next be seen in the comedy She’s Out of My League
There’s been a metric ton of speculation and even a few intentionally leaked set photos, but up till now no one really seems to have had any idea what the already filming Sex and the City sequel might be about. Tonight, for the first time, we may have answers. Sex and the City 2 is throwing a big, gay, wedding.
Gossip site Just Jared claims that an “insider” says the movie will involve a wedding between the series’ notable gay couple, played by Mario Cantone and Willie Garson. There had been some speculation that the film might actually be marrying off Samantha, but apparently photos leaked of her in a wedding gown were, much like communism, just a red herring.
Since the first movie already covered the wedding thing pretty adequately, it’s hard to imagine that yet another marriage would be the central plot of the sequel, let alone the wedding of two minor side characters. It’s more likely that this is just some sub plot, maybe while the wedding happens Big will impregnate Carrie behind a pew or something. That doesn’t mean it isn’t a big deal. Their source claims they’re planning celebrity cameos from gay icons to class up the occasion. They’ve reportedly already signed Liza Minnelli and are currently in “secret talks” with Barbra Streisand.
Sarah Jessica Parker was all decked out in ripped jeans and a headband, while also carrying a SATC sweatshirt on the set of Sex and the City 2 in Brooklyn yesterday. Over the weekend she took the twins out for a walk through Manhattan but come Monday it was back to work for Miss Carrie Bradshaw. The actress and her three costars are keeping us guessing with the plotlines although we already have a hint at some of the celebrity cameos we will see when the sequel hits the big screen.
I know, I know. If you see one more send-up of Beyoncé’s “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It),” you’re going to slit your wrists. After seeing the versions done by football players on “Glee,” Justin Timberlake on “SNL,” and indie rockers Pomplamoose, what else could possibly be done to add new intrigue to this poor, copycatted tune? Well, someone very dear to my theatre-loving heart is rumored to be having a go at the ditty. In perhaps the best “Sex and the City 2” spoiler news ever, Us Weekly reports that Ms. Liza Minnelli herself will be performing the song in a wedding scene during the film. OK … I’m so giddy I forgot to wonder who is getting married. I seriously can’t wait to see Liza turn that bitch out. I wonder if she’ll do it in full Fosse getup?
Sarah Jessica Parker finds it hard to film scenes for the "Sex And The City" sequel, because paparazzi are constantly swarming the set.
The actress is currently in New York working on the second installment of the hit movie, which is due to hit screens next year.
Parker and her co-stars -- Kim Cattrall, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis -- are filming on the streets of New York City and are constantly mobbed by eager fans and pesky snappers eager to get shots of the clan.
But the 44-year-old is exasperated by the constant press attention, because it distracts her from filming.
She tells Entertainment Weekly, "It drives me crazy. It's just very hard to get a day's work done and concentrate."
Rumor: According to Us Weekly, “Big loses a lot of money and takes a job in London, living alone in a one-bedroom apartment. Big gets really low and ends up in bed with another woman. After she leaves him, Carrie discovers she is pregnant.”
Reality: While Mr. Big (Chris Noth) talks about the declining stock market, losing a lot of money is not part of the plot nor does he take a job in London. He also doesn’t end up in bed with another woman, and Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) does not discover she’s pregnant. There IS an interesting plotline involving Carrie, Big and kids, but we’re not going to spoil the film.
Rumor: The Brisbane Times, and other outlets, have reported, “Charlotte and Harry also let Carrie Bradshaw… and husband Big move in with them when they lose a huge amount of cash in the recession,” and that Big “eventually travels to the Middle East to try and recover their fortune.”
Reality: Carrie and Big do NOT move in with Charlotte (Kristin Davis) and her husband Harry (Evan Handler) – because the financial crisis affected them – but a lot of the plot does take place in the Middle East, only we’re not going to spoil the reason why the women from “Sex and the City” end up there. All we’ll say is that the Middle East plot is Samantha related.
It is day two of filming for the second Sex and the City movie and the footpath outside New York's Plaza Hotel is spilling over with fans. Barricades and heavy security keep crowds at bay on one side as, on the other, a camera crew follows four women walking and talking in sky-high stilettos.
For Kristin Davis, returning to the role of Charlotte York in the television-series-turned-film-franchise is like stepping back into a favourite pair of shoes, although tottering in those heels requires some practice.
“We get rusty with the walking and talking in high heels. Our feet are killing us. We are not back up to fighting shape and we have to get tough again,” Davis says at the end of a day on set.
After playing Charlotte in 94 episodes of the show, from 1998 to 2004, the actress now thinks nothing of answering when she hears the name in the street.
“If I am walking very fast down Madison Avenue I might get stopped a dozen times,” she says of being recognised as her character. “It is almost unconscious in a way now, but is not a bad thing."
The teen star WILL be starring in the upcoming Sex and the City movie sequel, it was confirmed Friday.
Miley, 16, reportedly has one scene, and in it she wears the same dress to a red carpet event that Kim Cattrall’s character, Samantha, buys to look “hot and young.”
Recent reports claimed the Hannah Montana actress is scheduled to film her part on Oct. 16.
“They’ve asked her,” a source said earlier this month. “But she hasn’t confirmed. Right now, they’re just holding the space for her.”
It was reported in August that the teen queen sees appearing alongside the show’s leading ladies — Cattrall, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristin Davisand Cynthia Nixon — as a way of becoming a serious actress.
“Miley sees this as a transition from teen stardom to more adult roles,” dished a Hollywood insider.
“We’re all wondering how long it will take Kim to have Miley knocking back Cosmos and ogling all the men. Seriously though, all the girls are excited to have Miley on board.”
I spent 14 hours of the longest day of my life as an extra on Sex and the City 2 this week. And then, instead of going back for the second day (and the five nights I was supposed to do in October), I quit.
This all started in early August, when on a lark I went to an open casting call for the film in Manhattan. I waited for several hours in line with thousands of other hopefuls, stood for two photographs, and wrote about the whole experience, such as it was. When I didn’t hear anything more, I put it out of my mind. Then last week, I got a call from a woman from Grant Wilfley Casting.
“Do you still have the same haircut?” she asked. I do. “Great,” she said. “You’ll be playing a lesbian.”
The allegedly ongoing feud between actresses Kim Cattrall and Sarah Jessica Parker is said to be threatening the future of the second ‘Sex and the City’ movie.
The two, who didn’t get on when they filmed the six series of the TV show and the first movie adaptation in 2008, are said to dislike each other so much they refuse to talk to one another, leaving the rest of the cast and crew feeling uncomfortable on set.
“While the cast is all smiles on the outside, the level of dislike is unbelievable. No-one is having a good time on this shoot,” Contactmusic quoted a source telling Britain’s Star magazine.
Parker, who plays Carrie Bradshaw, is believed to be growing increasingly stressed as she tries to combine filming with the demands of her six-year-old son James and baby twin daughters Marion and Tabitha, who were born via a surrogate in June.
“The crew have taken to calling her ‘Carrie Sadshaw’. When she doesn’t have to be ‘on’ in her scenes, she looks so sad,” the source said.
Cattrall is also getting stressed and is making co-stars Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis dread coming into work.
“Kim has been taking every chance to snipe. You could cut the tension with a knife. Their fighting has also made Cynthia and Kristin miserable, too,” the source added.
Welcome to Movie Monday, when I feature the sets from our favorite films. They’re filming the second Sex and the City movie in NYC right now and photos are coming out in the press every day, which made me think it would be fun to revisit the first one. I didn’t write about it before because I felt like it was covered by enough other blogs when it came out in 2008. But when I started searching for information about it recently, I couldn’t find all that much detail. And you know how I love the details! So I decided to try to fill in the gaps.

Acting as a possible spoiler, Kim Cattrall turned up on the set of “Sex and the City 2” in New York City clad in a wedding dress on Friday (September 18).
Looking as if the Samantha Jones actress might just be ready to walk down the aisle, Kim strolled along past a crowd of spectators in a sleeveless white gown paired with Ugg boots.
Having broken up with Smith Jerrod (Jason Lewis) at the end of the first movie, sources tell that Samantha’s love interest turns back up in the much-awaited sequel – possibly being the man to tie the knot with Cattrall’s character.
“Yes, Jason is back!” an insider tells. “Smith has become a famous movie star, so we’ll see how that plays out and how that affects their relationship.”
Fans Stalk The Plaza Hotel Set For Storyline Secrets
September, 17. 2009.
Sex and the City 2 continues filming around New York City and fans are literally following along, hoping to catch a few clues about the movie's plot. Last week, the ladies were spotted filming outside The Plaza in full '80s garb for a flashback scene, though its unclear how it will fit into the movie.
Kim not only got her 80's on last week, she also let a few SATC2 secrets slip when she carried her script with her to the set in Manhattan. The pesky paparazzi were able to zoom in on the page which revealed Smith (the hunky model) might make an appearance in the "Sex" sequel even though he and Samantha parted ways at the end of the first film. In the scene, Samantha is at her desk when she's told "Smith Jerrod's on the phone." There's also a bottle of hormone pills on her desk so its safe to assume Samantha will be dealing with menopause too.
On Monday, fans got a glimpse of Charlotte's daughter Lily, who looked like a mini Blair Waldorf in a two-tiered purple dress with matching headband. Kristin Davis, who plays Charlotte, was also dressed to impress in a mint ruffled dress and matching pumps, which reassured fans that even if the plot doesn't live up to their expectations, at least the clothes will.
It looks like the movie might be filming in Central Park today, but who knows about a rain date. Permit signs, trucks and trailers have been spotted on 6th Avenue around W 58th Street and Central Park South, just a block away from last week's location at The Plaza.
According to The New York Post, The Plaza has recently teamed with designer Betsey Johnson to create a two bedroom suite named for their most famous resident, Eloise. The kid-friendly suite promises to be full of surprises. But don't start planning your own mini Blair Waldorf's Eloise-themed birthday bash just yet, there is still no word on when it will actually open.
The gals of Sex and the City are filming the sequel and there is still no word if Jennifer Hudson will reprise her role as Louise. Hudson has said she would love to return to the set, but she has not been scene in any of the on-location shots they have popped up all over the Internet. In addition, her name is not on the movie’s IMDB page nor is the movie on her IMDB page.
I would be disappointed if Hudson didn’t return. Her character was a needed element to the movie — it also helped to see a little bit of color in the cast.
There are many spoilers running around about the film. Including that Carrie and Big go broke, Samantha suspects her cancer is returning, Miranda leaves her job as an attorney and Charlotte’s marriage is on the rocks.
Pull up the legwarmers and feather the hair, ladies. The new Sex and the City movie goes where the first one didn't dare: Back to the '80s.
"Expect lots of fun," Kim Cattrall told PEOPLE at the Artists for Peace and Justice fundraiser in Toronto Friday night. "Audiences definitely will want to see what we have planned."
Though Cattrall, 53, is staying mum on the storyline, she raves about a scene in which she, Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis relive the decade of Reagan, punk rock and excess on the streets of New York.
"It was so much fun to relive the wild and crazy fashions of the '80s," Cattrall says. "I absolutely loved the four different looks of all of us. We were all so uniquely different that we all couldn't stop admiring our different looks. There was lots of laughing, and it was a blast!"
And despite long-simmering rumors of feuds, Cattrall says there's nothing more comfortable than going back to work as part of a foursome.
"Working with the three women is so easy," she says. "I mean seven years of doing the series and the first movie and now two years later being back feels like being home. It's so much fun. There is a saying that you can't go home again but on Sex and the City, you can.”
But there is one thing that's changed: the lengths snooping photographers and fans will go to in order to glean storylines from the movie, which is slated to hit theaters in May 2010.
"When I carry my script to the set, it's amplified and any clue is deciphered," she says. "So going to work everyday, I now I have to put that in a book to make sure nobody can see it."
The shooting schedule calls for an elaborate wedding scene to take place at a Connecticut inn. In attendance? Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte, Miranda, Stanford Blatch -- and Stanford's mother and father! All signs point to a gay union between Stanford and Anthony Marentino, who's required to wear a black tuxedo in the scene. Slated as the entertainment: Liza Minnelli! "The scene is hilarious," says an on-set insider.
CARRIE GOES HOME
Carrie finally married Big at the end of the first movie, but they may be having issues in the sequel. The evidence: Several scenes are being shot at the location that serves as Carrie's old apartment from her single-gal days. One report says she and Big will have problems rooted in money trouble.
MILEY CYRUS MAY HAVE A SUPPORTING ROLE
The teen pop star has gushed about being a SATC fan -- and now it looks like she may get the chance to guest-star. One day of shooting has been carved out for her, according to the schedule. "They've asked her," says an insider. "But she hasn't confirmed. Right now, they're just holding the space for her."
MAX RYAN JOINS 'SEX AND THE CITY' CAST
English actor Max Ryan has been tapped as a potential love interest for Kim Cattrall in the new Sex And The City movie, says The Hollywood Reporter. The Death Race star has reportedly been cast as a European architect named Rikard who wil cross paths with Samantha Jones (Cattrall).
Want some uncommon knowledge regarding the upcoming blockbuster? In Touch Weekly has revealed a slew of spoilers regarding the movie. Take these with a grain of salt as big as Carrie's shoe collection, but the rumored storylines include...
Carrie and Big become victims of the recession. How bad does it get? They are forced to move in with Charlotte and Harry!
Samantha fears her cancer has returned; as a result, she goes back to Smith Jerrod because she's still in love with him.
Miranda is sued for malpractice. She and Steve open a restaurant together.
The marriage of Charlotte and Harry hits a difficult patch after Charlotte suspects Harry of cheating. However, he's just sneaking around with a contractor, building Charlotte's dream home as a surprise.
So far only pic I found with all of them together on set of new movie
