"Sex and the city" Movie sequel: A bad idea?
June, 5. 2008.
There will be a sequel to the wildly successful "Sex and the City" movie. After the film’s $57 million opening weekend, that’s one of the surest bets in the entertainment industry.
But – to muse a la Carrie Bradshaw– I have to wonder, can “Sex” be as good the second time around?
Not that this would stop the studio from rushing into a sequel, but if you’ve seen the film, you know there’s really nowhere for the stories of the “SATC” characters to go. (Pictured at right: Kristin Davis, Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kim Cattrall in the "SATC" movie.)
Well, I must say its not so good. Avg. rating is 4.8 which is kinda dissapointing. The sample is take from almost 13000 raters so here are the results of the world voting :)
From the chart you can see that people love it or hate it, the middle part is kinda short in numbers :)
And if you see the age and sex chart one thing is obvious. Female population is responsible for this lower IMDB rating. Why did you take your boyfriends and husbands to the show ;)
No book cover on Amazon so its not 100% sure its the right book but worth to check it out.
Sex and the city movie on the top
June, 2. 2008.
Best R-rated comedy opener ever - an impressive $55.7 mil opening. Like nobody expected this ;)
With so huge movie fan number and tickets sold like a week ago before opening I would be suprised if the movie didnt broke few records :)
What else to say then - Gratz, good job
:D

King hints at Sex and the City Sequel
May, 31. 2008.
Don't put those Manolos back in the closet just yet. Variety reports Sex and the City movie writer-producer-director Michael Patrick King might have another script (or two) up his sleeve.
"I wrote that with a beginning, middle and end because I didn't want to leave the audience unfulfilled," he said. "The actresses are great, and if the gods smile and people are still intersted, why not?"
Hey, Michael, I don't public interest is going to be an issue.
Regardless of whether a SATC sequel is in the offing, King will certainly be keeping himself busy. He's just landed a deal with DreamWorks giving the studio a first-look at his next film.
King tells Variety his next project is a romantic comedy with a focus on the meaning of love.
The cultural phenom that had us all slurping Cosmos and sporting tutus and Jimmy Choos (okay, not all of us) finally sashays into theaters after a four-year wait. This stylish NYC romance delivers, especially for voracious Sex addicts—but isn't a 142-minute running time overcompensating?
Want the whole review? Read on...
The flick easily picks up where the finale left off: Author/fashion icon Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker) plans a lavish wedding with Mr. Big (Chris Noth), but the ever-elusive guy has second thoughts.
Cynical, wisecracking lawyer Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) struggles to trust her hubby again after a sexual indiscretion. Eternal optimist Charlotte (Kristin Davis) cares for her adopted daughter but still longs to get pregnant. And cougar-prototype Samantha (Kim Cattrall) lives in Hollywood with the hunkster actor she manages.
Size only matters if you know what to do with the extra length, and SATC feels less like a cohesive feature than a string of TV episodes.
Writer/director Michael Patrick King has trouble interweaving all the characters and storylines, as Miranda and Charlotte disappear for long periods, Charlotte's subplot lacks development, and the middle slumps with a glum Carrie shattered over…something we won't spoil here. And while Dreamgirl Jennifer Hudson, as Carrie's personal assistant, adds a sweet and more youthful presence, her character isn't that interesting.
Though dramatically uneven, SATC still offers a number of pleasures, usually in simpler scenes, as the gal-pals banter, talk love and sex, and, yes, try on clothes. Fashion montages in movies are almost always expendable, but here the scenes are so joyous and girl-empowering (and deserving of mad style points!), they only add to the friendship fun.
After a round of premieres and press in Europe, Sarah Jessica Parker & Co. hit Radio City Music Hall in New York City tonight for the movie’s U.S. premiere.
SJP looked incredible in a silver floor-length Nina Ricci gown and 19th-century jewels from Fred Leighton. The 3,000 or so people filling the theater cheered as she made her way in. The second-loudest round of hootin’ and hollerin’ went to Chris “Mr. Big” Noth.
And who was there? Among the premiere guests munching on popcorn and sipping the new SATC Vitaminwater called XXX were Bette Midler, Katie Couric, Molly Sims, Regis Philbin, Mary J. Blige, Donald and Melania Trump, Joan Allen, Donna Karan, Nicole Miller, Christian Siriano, Edie Falco, Todd Oldham, Bradley Cooper, Victor Garber and funnylady Amy Sedaris.
For actress/fashionista Sarah Jessica Parker, playing Carrie Bradshaw on HBO’s "Sex and the City" was more than just a television role.
"It’s been, now, almost 11 years of my life. I don’t know how one can sum it up," Parker said.
The 43-year-old actress and her husband, actor Matthew Broderick, have a 5-year-old son, James Wilkie. Parker called Carrie "a life-changing experience. Personally it’s not the same as having a child, it’s a very different experience. But certainly it’s enriched my life in ways that I could have never imagined."
The movie version of the long-running HBO series opens Friday. As both producer and star, the two years she spent getting "Sex" made "seems nothing short of miraculous. This is the movie that Michael Patrick (King, the film’s screenwriter and director) and I hoped for, fought for, dreamt of, battled for, doggedly pursued."
The struggle began with the search for a studio once HBO passed on a movie. Parker credits the fans for sparking New Line to pony up.
"To make a movie about four women over 40 is really not the way that Hollywood likes to spend their money. It’s really the commitment and the energy of the audience, through DVDs and syndication," she said. "Had they not have been so devout, we could not have convinced a studio."
Unlike the first season of "Sex," when outrageousness was the order of the day, the movie charts a different time for Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda.
"All the Botox in the world isn’t going to change time. There is too much documentation. To run from it, to have a story about four women running around Manhattan, drinking liberally and looking for sexual conquests, is just not the story we want to tell," Parker said.
That’s why " Dreamgirls" Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson appears as Carrie’s assistant. "She illustrates the difference between being 20 and coming to New York with all that hope of promise and the more silly things, fashion, socializing. All that stuff that a 20-year-old should be exploring."
Is this the end for Carrie?
"I just don’t feel like that is a decision that’s mine to make. It’s greedy right now to think about anything beyond this experience."
It’s an event four years in the making: the Sex and the City movie hits theaters on May 30. How desperate are fans for a first look? MainStreet is monitoring NYC’s Craigslist to see who is selling theater tickets and who is begging for seats at the May 27 New York premiere.

All Carrie Bradshaw can do is gasp. The sight before her is simply too good to be true: a gleaming, gold and white closet spacious enough to house every last thread of her beloved designer wardrobe, if not the entire contents of her single-gal apartment. And it's hers. All hers — an engagement gift from Mr. Big, who bought the resplendent Manhattan flat in which this temple of couture worship sits. Of course, it's really a lavish set nestled into New York's Silvercup Studios, the same place where Sarah Jessica Parker and Chris Noth shot Sex and the City for seven years.

I always felt I could tell who wrote which Sex and the City episode by Carrie's voiceover, because as much as we tried to be consistent script to script, there was room to put ''you'' the writer in ''Carrie'' the writer. That was one of the great luxuries of writing Carrie — the fact that she herself was a writer. Carrie could be as wise, wry, and poetic as we had the talent to make her. In fact, I think I saw Carrie as a better writer than I was, and in that way she challenged me, along with the rest of the writing staff, to do some of the freshest, most thought-provoking work we'd ever done.

London Sex and the City Movie World Premiere
May, 13. 2008.
You can see the rest of London Red Carpet Pics HERE
As Carrie Bradshaw she enthralled women across the world with her kooky style for six years.
And Sarah Jessica Parker didn't disappoint when she arrived for the long awaited world premiere of the Sex And The City movie wearing an outrageous, horticulturally themed hat.
SJP, as she's more commonly known, wore a towering Philip Treacy creation, complete with butterflies and huge green corsage atop her head as she took centre stage on the red carpet.
A super-exclusive Sex and the City Movie party is scheduled to kick off after the film’s big London premiere on May 11, according to the Los Angeles Times.
The chosen venue, the Green Carnation club, can only hold 100 special guests. Claire Forlani, Mark Ronson, Emily Blunt, Helena Bonham Carter and Mandy Moore made the cut, as well as “Sex and the City” stylist Patricia Field and Lee Klabin, designer of the “Midnight Moth” corset Sarah Jessica Parker wears in the film, who will co-host the bash.
No word on whether “SATC” stars Parker, Cynthia Nixon, Kim Cattrall and Kristin Davis are planning to attend, but, really – who would want to miss this?
We’re on the corner of West 10th and Hudson Streets when the young woman appears.
“Excuse me,” she says. “I’m your biggest fan.”
The girl is stylish, faintly mod, with enormous fringed pinwheels for eyes. She’s speaking very quickly in a British accent and rifling through her handbag for something I can’t quite see.
“I love your eyelashes,” says Sarah Jessica Parker.
“Thank you!” says Pinwheels, digging deeper. “I have a denim brand. It’s British. And I would absolutely die if I could give you a pair.”
“Well, you don’t have to,” says Parker. “You just tell me the name, I’ll find them, you don’t have to give me anything—” But her fan has indeed produced from her handbag an entire pair of designer jeans, crosshatched on the rear pockets. She is literally pressing them into Parker’s hand, which is trying to press them back. “Oh, my,” says Parker in astonishment. “You just, you just happen to have them in your bag?”
“I was meant to see you. What size are you?”
Parker tries hard to say no, as politely as possible. “I don’t like to take anything from a new designer, because you need to sell them,” she explains—“They’re at Intermix!” interjects the British designer—“Oh, good, I can go there, I can find them on my own. Don’t give them away. Give them to people that need them. Don’t give them away to me.”
You want to know about “Sex and the City: The Movie”? Here’s the bottom line: It’s going to be a very, very big hit.
I saw it on Saturday night at a private screening. Women wept, cheered. It’s the Neiman Marcus catalog on steroids.
The four female stars — not to mention Chris Noth as Mr. Big, David Eigenberg as Steve and Evan Handler as Harry — are the most appealing ensemble of the year.
In the end, the movie’s success rests on Sarah Jessica Parker as Carrie. She’s the team captain, which means that she’s not only narrating but guiding the plot. Looking radiant and charming as ever, Parker couldn’t be better. She’s pithy and sexy. That’s some package.
PART 1 - REST IN VIDEOS
if embeded videos are little slow to open go to raw link
The cast of the Sex and the City movie stopped by Oprah to chat about fashion, their lives, and of course that amazingly anticipated film on the episode that aired today. Oprah gushed about the movie too, urging women everywhere to make a girls' night out to see it — as if anyone needs any convincing about that. In the true spirit of Carrie Bradshaw, Sarah Jessica couldn't resist comparing her enthusiasm to shoes, saying, "Excited is like a flip-flop to a high heel…it doesn't even describe [it]!"
While we're wishing May would move faster so we can finally check out the film, Oprah picked a group of die hard SATC fans for the film's very first screening. The catch was that the audience was only treated to 3/4 of the movie, and will have to wait until May 30th to see the ending, just like the rest of us who aren't lucky enough to attend the premiere. Plus, SJP herself swore them all to secrecy about it saying, "You can brag, but you can't blog." Those are some lucky ladies!
Finali some news about NYC Sex and the city movie premiere. Even thou it will happen few weeks after the London one, New Line people said the London one wont be that big and not all of the cast will show up there.
Also got tip from on german fan that German SATC premiere will be on 15th of May, so 3 days later then London one in Berlin - thx Birte :). So even thou New Line Cinema is saying that the NYC will be grand one with all the glamour, I still have a feeling that half of the world will see the movie until it will get premiere in it birth city.
Well, anyway. The big happening in NYC will be on 27th of May at the landmark Radio City Music Hall, followed by a reception at the Museum of Modern Art. The evening will benefit Caroline Kennedy's Fund for Public Schools.
SATC ladies on Oprah Show and Kim Cattrall on the cover of Advocate
April, 27. 2008.
In this summer’s Sex and the City, Kim Cattrall is back for more. But the woman who symbolizes sex with no strings isn’t anything like her screen persona - except of course when she is.
The Sex and the city ladies will be guest on the next week show May 1st to talk about the movie and things related to it.
First SATC Premiere in London on May 12th ?!
April, 27. 2008.
Now this is something that got me suprised. How can a movie so related to NYC get its first premiere in London. And not only that but 2 weeks before the NYC premiere. Now that kinda sux, cuz by the time NYC premiere starts everyone will know the movie story. Unfair in my opinion. Just bloody unfair.
Heres the part of article from Sunday Telegraph:
"If you had to bet where "Sex and the City: The Movie" would premiere May 12, you'd probably put money on New York, right?" asked Elizabeth Snead, a leading fashion and showbusiness commentator with the Los Angeles Times. "I mean, that's the city that never sleeps, where the HBO series was set and shot, where New York Observer columnist Candace Bushnell wrote those spicy single-life columns that the series was based on. And hey, the whole premise of the TV series was about falling in love with the Big Apple, not with a man.
"London? Not exactly the sexiest city in the world, if you ask me."
If the upper YT Video was removed due to copyright by Universal Music well, cant do much about that :)

14. SATC Movie Theme (New Version)
Whatever "Sex and the City's" Cynthia Nixon was paid for being in the upcoming film version of the hit HBO series, she deserves a raise.
The actress let it slip to host Billy Eichner during the Creation Nation comedy show at the Zipper Theater on Apr. 15 that "a character dies in the movie." And in turn, Nixon made the SATC movie — dare we say — interesting.
Nixon refused to divulge who dies, opening the door for the blog world to start positing its own theories.
Among the favorites:
New York magazine’s Daily Intel Blog, which settles on Charlotte (cause of death: "freak tennis accident") because it "can't think of a reason not to kill Charlotte."
The Vulture blog, also from NY magazine, puts its money on Mr. Big. "Big's death will end the first act of the movie, which will be followed by a tasteful period of mourning, and then a montage. Carrie will end the movie sad, but plucky, with a new (or old!) guy on the horizon and the prospect for sequels bright."
Not a bad theory at all, but Scoop will refrain from conjecture for now and be pleased to think that maybe there is a plot twist out there that can be kept mostly secret.
Cynthia Nixon, known for her role as feisty attorney Miranda Hobbes on Sex and the City, revealed that she was diagnosed with breast cancer two years ago.
Nixon, 42, said she had gone for her "completely routine mammogram" in 2006 when she got a call from her gynecologist.
THERE'S a moment in the new "Sex and the City" movie, The Post has learned, when Carrie Bradshaw is lounging in a cliff-top Mexican villa, overlooking a breathtaking view of the ocean, with her pink Swarovski-encrusted cellphone in hand. She's checking her voice mail.
First message.
It's from Big, who, as many know by now, actually has a name: John James Preston.
"Babe," he says affectionately, before saying he needs to talk to her urgently.
In a moment of pure impulsiveness, Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) throws her phone off the cliff. It goes sailing through the air, with the sun sparkling off the crystals as it falls into the ocean.

Sex and the City movie sequel plans got out
April, 10. 2008.
Despite the fact the first Sex and the City movie is yet to be released, plans for a sequel are reportedly already in the works.
According to British newspaper The Mail on Sunday, star of SATC Sarah Jessica Parker is keen to have the sequel option written into her contract specifying she would reprise her role as Carrie Bradshaw.
An on-set source told The Mail on Sunday: "The producers are already working on a script for a second movie... they are so convinced the first will be a hit. They are exercising the sequel option in all of the stars' contracts.
"They want it to be a franchise and think they can stretch it over at least three movies."
Chris Noth has hinted there may be a sequel to "Sex and the City: The Movie".
The 53 year old actor - who will reprise his role as Sarah Jessica Parker's character Carrie Bradshaw's love interest Mr. Big in the movie - would definitely be interested in starring in a follow-up, but only if Parker agrees.
He told US TV show 'Extra': "I imagine if this film makes a lot of money, they will want to do a sequel. I don't know where Sarah Jessica Parker stands on that. It's sort of up to her. I'm just riding her coat-tails!"
Chris also spoke about becoming a father for the first time, after girlfriend Tara Wilson gave birth to son Orion in January.
He said: "Parenthood is so great. I'm very lucky to have the girlfriend that I do because she's probably the best mother in the world!"
The notorious rivalry between the women of Sex and the City remained at bay just long enough for film producers to bring the now-defunct HBO hit series to the big screen, but now it all appears to be coming apart at the seams-over designer duds and fashion statements at next month’s World Premiere of Sex and the City: The Movie.
"There is huge rivalry about who is wearing what. It’s insane. And the film’s stylist Patricia Field is stuck in the middle because everyone keeps secretly asking her who is wearing what. They are determined not to be outdone by each other."
"The four girls were all supposed to arrive at the premiere together in a white stretch limo….But now they have demanded that they have their own individual cars so each star can have their own five minutes on the carpet with all eyes on them - rather than SJP getting all the attention. It’s turning into a logistical nightmare."
$52,100 was the winning bid in eBay’s Kristin Davis charity auction for Oxfam that ended this weekend. Lucky winner is a lady from Japan who will bring her fiancé to hobnob with Kristin Davis and the gals at the SEX AND THE CITY THE MOVIE premiere in Manhattan on 5/27.
Winner will get her own pair of Jimmy Choos for the occasion and an on-air meet & greet with Kristin. Bidding for Kristin’s auction started out at 99 cents.

Sex and the City in Cannes?
March, 27. 2008.
Though it's been heavily rumored that New Line's "Sex and the City" movie will pop up at Cannes, there's at least one person who's not so sure it's a great idea: Sarah Jessica Parker.
The star and producer of the New Line film is concerned that if the movie premiered there, about 1-2 weeks before it opened both around the world and in the U.S, the hush-hush ending could slip out. "That’s a big deal for those women and men who really stuck with us, who don't want to know the ending. It's not life altering. It won't help humankind. But it for those fans who don't want to know things early."
There's been much speculation around the shoot, which has drawn crowds and tabloid reporters scouring for clues on what happens to the fearsome foursome. The production has tried to keep a lid on plot details, even moving shoots indoors and shifting schedules to keep away prying eyes; in fact, the publication of a tie-in book is already being held back until the movie's relese so that it doesn't give away the ending.
The actress went on to say that as much as she really would love to be at the fest, she was "really conflicted" about what an early screening would mean.
Parker does allow that if the film doesn't go to Cannes, there will be multiple premieres in various European cities. And back home, naturally New York will get its own glittering gala. "That," she promises, "would happen either way."
You can check out HERE some of the other release dates in some countries.
Sean Diddy in Sex & the City Sequel?
Sarah Jessica Parker has confirmed there are plans to make a Sex & the City movie sequel - and it could feature Sean `Diddy’ Combs.
The first film is expected to be one of the year’s big hits when it blasts onto cinema screens this summer (08) and the actress admits she’s already in negotiations for a second movie.
The 42-year-old says, “People are talking to me about it.”
And Parker is thrilled that rap mogul and designer Combs’ name is being linked to the stylish sequel.
